Your Gift
It was an equation that took hours, days and even weeks to compute.
Now, I am about to give you the key to shopping for gifts for not just your significant other, but your sisters and mother as well. But, heed my warning. Some of you may have to swallow a tiny bit of your pride. There is a tool out there that can compute this entire equation for you and guarantee that the recipient of the gift will love it. Those of you who are afraid may leave now.
Yup. Pinterest. It is the solution to all of your problems. Now, I know that you think that it is ‘girly’ but you’re going to have to get over yourself. I’m not telling you that you need to create a bunch of boards and pin what you want (although I have, and it is pretty cool). But, there is a high likelihood that the person you are shopping for is on Pinterest.
So, what does it all mean? What is Pinterest?
In the simplest form, Pinterest is a social platform that is dominated by the female population where people ‘pin’ and ‘like’ things that they find interesting, fun or cute. It is an online bulletin board of everything someone would want to have in their life broken to into section such as home, fashion or travel.
I’ll dumb it down for you even more. A person’s Pinterest board is a collection of all the things people would want and love to have. All you have to do is find something on that board you can afford and buy it. That’s it. The links are even there to take you to the store (most of the time) where you can purchase the items. All the guesswork is gone. Poof. Vanished. Pinterest is like gold for gift giving. Heck, you may even be giving some gold you found on Pinterest (jewelry seems to be a popular item).
So there you have it. Gift giving made simple. You’re welcome!
There is also a new social platform similar to Pinterest that is in Beta and it is for men. It is called Gentlemint. Feel free to check it out, I’ve already requested my invite to join early.
What is the most interesting thing you’ve ‘pinned’, purchased or given as a gift lately?

This is a great idea Reed! I signed up for Pinterest not too long ago and finally saw firsthand just how many of my women friends are using the platform.
I would add that even if the girl you are shopping for is not on Pinterest, her friends or people with similar interests are bound to have pinned things she would like! I might have to use this idea soon… Thanks!
The idea just came to me when I was surfing Pinterest. I kept seeing people post “want this so bad!” and then I started thinking about what Annie would want for Valentines. Then, boom! Unfortunately, Annie doesn’t have a Pinterest yet… bummer! Hope your semester is off to a great start, Andrew!
