“If you do what you’ve always done…
… you’ll get what you’ve always gotten.” It is a quote the we have all heard at one point in our life, likely from a parent or coach. Generally speaking, it is a quote that is used when you are performing poorly. I’ll admit that the quote does serve a purpose, but let’s apply it to another scenario. Let’s say that you are at a certain point in your life and are performing very well. So, you practice this quote, and continue doing what you’ve always done. Will you still continue to produce great results? Not necessarily.
I could insert another quote about change here, but we all know that the life changes and everything in it. If you continue to do the same thing over and over, and the world changes around you, you’ll get left behind. Your performance will deteriorate. Your success will diminish. You certainly won’t be the best you.
Take the quote with a grain of salt and apply it wisely. In the meantime, challenge yourself. Challenge processes. Learn something new. Do something different. Take a chance. Get better.
Short post, but just a little something I’ve been thinking about and trying to apply to my daily life. I work in a world that changes on a daily basis. I can’t afford to fall into a routine and become complacent. Every day I (and everyone else in the world) has an opportunity to learn something new and apply it instantly. Don’t miss out on that chance.
